My DIY Coffee/Hot Chocolate Mugs Attempt

I will say it a million times over....I am not crafty or good at designing things...but I love to try. I am a perfectionist at heart so it has taken me a while to get use my projects not turning out exactly as planned but I have so much fun doing them that I just don't care. I saw this on pinterest and BEAUtiful mess and a link up she did on Saw it. Pinned it. Did it. and had to try.

Alexa over at Southern Living Our Way has become an amazing friend whom I just adore. Well, of course when you find someone who you just get along with so well, luck would be that we live 17 hours apart (yes I've made out my driving route already...you would too if you chat with her for like 5 sec.)
My poor phone is always low on batteries!!!

So I did the next best thing and made us coffee mugs. They actually turned out pretty cute. Here's all that you need and what to do! Enjoy friends.

Supplies: Blog Bestie, 2 coffee cups, sharpies, & I used shape cut outs I found online (go me). I wasn't about to try to draw Texas or North Carolina! hehe

Step 1: Tape the cut out to the cup so that it doesn't turn out crazy. I trusted myself enough to use a fine point sharpie. Other directions suggest eye liner buttttt....you can see on my Texas that didn't turn out too well.. hehe

Step 2: Trace around the shape cut outs with your Sharpie pen. Looks pretty good eh?
Thanks google

Step 3: With marker make your path to the other state and draw your hearts

Step 4: Trace over your outline with a bolder sharpie...I recommend a new one with a good point. You can write your own message on the inside...ours is an inside joke. :)
The inside part was a pain in the rear...can you tell?!

Step 5: Set your oven to 350 degrees, put your mugs in, and let them bake for 45 minutes. This sets the sharpie so that the mugs can be washed.

Step 6: Take cute pictures of the finished product and send your state to you bff and keep their state as your reminder of them...
Alexa, be watching yo mail box! :)
