Lesson 1: Bloggers = friends
And yes that was our actual conversation. So now I have to refer to y'all as my "blogging friends" and not just friends because the poor man just gets confused. It's hard to explain that there is so much that I can have in common with so many of you and that we actually form friendships from emailing back and forth, reading blogs, and finding commonalities with people who are miles away or live in the next city over.
Lesson 2: my blog is not JUST my diary.
When I write my posts....I usually go into our office or type up my posts on my iPhone notes like I am doing currently because it's a beautiful day outside and I'm getting my tan on. But anyways...if he sees me writing, he comes in and wants to know if I'm done writing in my diary. Yup. That's what he thinks this is....and sometimes yes I do use my blog as that but I tried to explain that it's way more than just writing down things that are on my mind or that happen in our life. I like to think of it more as a reflective notebook where I can look back later and see how random of a mess I was. I get to share things with you all that maybe you connect with or can help me with, and I can keep track of the randomness that comes from being a newlywed.
When I think of a diary, I think of something with a lock and key that you don't want anyone to know what is inside. With blogging, I write about whatever my little heart desires..whatever is on my mind that I need to talk about, or that I want to share in hopes that someone else has been there and can offer some guidance. I blog to keep me sane from all the randomness that goes on in that thing under this blond hair. I know that whatever I put on here is open, public, and I like that because when we open up is when we tend to find that more people feel or have felt the same.
Lesson 3 (and this was a hard one): Link Up's:
Poor guy....this really threw him for a loop-dee-loop. "Link up?! Like your going to go meet them?! Don't these people live all over the world." shaking my head...I had to explain that link up's just mean that I write or do something that other bloggers are writing or doing and link my link on the page to share it with people who are doing the same things. Speaking of link ups, these are just a few I've participated in Saw It, Pinned It, Did It, VLOG link ups, Shenanigans & Gossip, and Friday's Letters.
After all this confusion, I didn't even try to go into blates and that people actually do meet the people they become friends with.
Lesson 4: Giveaways
"So what your saying is that you actually give away things to people?! Like for free?" His mind = blown away by this. I think it's amazing. I have found some of my favorite ETSY shops, have won some awesome ad spaces on certain blogs, and get to give away amazing things to you all just for reading... I'll give him some time to get use to this.
And speaking of giveaways, make sure you enter the MK watch giveaway HERE.
Shameless plug I know but y'all...who wouldn't want to win won of those watches?!
Lesson 5: Sponsoring
There is absolutely no better feeling than seeing your cute little button sitting on the side of someones blog post, especially if it's some of your favorites. But if you are my husband, this can be confusing (as the rest of this blogging world obviously has been) because "why would you pay someone to promote your blog". Good questions partner, but lemme explain...sponsoring means more than having someone throw your button up and that be it. I love to find sponsors whose blogs I love to read, who I want to sponsor, and who I'm excited every time I see my button pop up. I love that we offer this to each other or even just swap buttons to support and encourage each other.
I currently get to promote these awesome ladies:
And I get to sponsor/support these wonderful blogs:
The Kinch Life
I Wore Yoga Pants To Work
Brooklyn State of Mind
This Beautiful Life
The Pinstriped Penguin

Lesson 5: The best lesson of them all...Passionfruit.
Legit conversation we had one night while sitting on the couch drinking a glass of wine ...
Michael- "Oh crap babe, I think someone stole our identity!!!"
Me- "what makes you say that?! A big charge?!"
Michael- "No someone has been ordering off some sight called Passion fruit"
Me- giggling..."that was me honey"
Michael- "ohhhhh is it for Christmas or Valentines day for me?!"
Me- "ummm no"
I'm going to blame this misconception on passion fruit for making their name sound like some exotic place that my husband got intrigued by. No honey, those charges on our statement aren't for you, they are actually part of my blogging life. Sorry. :)
I have a feeling that this is going to be an ongoing learning process for him but I'm actually proud of him for catching on to most of these things...well the best he can.
Happy Tuesday friends. Have a great one and enjoy your day!

This made me laugh. It's seriously a whole different world...blogging. And people that don't do it, don't usually understand all of it. :)
this goes on in our house too, it's hard to explain and until I started blogging I didn't understand it either. He gives me the weirdo look when I start talking about and explaining something.
This cracked me up and reminded me of conversations I've had with my husband. He totally thinks my blog is a "diary" too. So great! By the way, I'm a new follower--your blog is so cute and fun to read. Thanks for sharing!
hahah I'm glad my hubs isn't the only one! When I said i wanted to "blate" his mind went in the gutter. I have to refer to you all as my bloggy friends too, lol
Omg my boyfriend and your husband could be best friends. (But they probably would choose not to be because they'd be afraid the other would ya know, break in to their car, rob them blind, steal their credit card number etc.) I think I've mentioned the blogging thing to him once and then never again. Little does he know he is brought up ALL THE TIME in my blog...whoops!
I'm a REAL girl, Pinocchio-style! :) Glenn's still about 28% sure that some of my blog friends are actually 65-year-old men sitting on a computer in their mom's basement, Catfishin' everybody, but he's getting better!
And Passionfruit also threw up red flags for my credit card company, so Officer Mike's not totally crazy!! Haha
This is cracking me up - Andre' and I have had many of the same conversations. The friends thing still confuses him.
Hahaha - this is so cute. People who aren't in the blogging world just don't understand what it's all about.
This is awesome! Your husband is not the only one who doesn't understand the blogging world - you are not alone!
xx
Those are all too funny, but my favorite is "those people on there are real." It makes me laugh because it is true. It has taken a while for my friends and family to embrace this whole blog thing, but lucky for me my bestie also blogs! Happy Hump Day!
I love this post. And Ryan does not understand the blogging world either..poor husbands...
hahhahaaa I've had similar conversations with my husband, too! Love this!!
ha! i go through the same. thing. every week with my boyfriend. sorry not sorry. maybe we should all consider starting a blogging dictionary? yes.
HAhaha.. THis made me LOL. Too funny!! My husband is the SAME way!!
Love it! My man hates all social media so this was a big leap for him...well me haha. We've had similar conversations I'm so glad you posted this! And the passion fruit seriously cracked me up haha, it does sound like a great website for a hubby gift.
Haha this was too funny! my boyfriend is not a social media fan either. he only has a facebook because that's how one of his clubs at school communicates haha he doesn't even have a picture!
Haha Love this. So funny and yet so true for the men. They've got a lot of things to learn. haha
This is so true! Link-ups are a foreign language :)
Those people on there are real?! LOL That sounds so familiar! It's no wonder we don't see many male bloggers, Link Ups and Give Aways, Guest posting... I tried explaining to my husband once- insert blank stare LOL Great post!
