True Life: My husband is going to Vegas without me

I don't know about y'all but this week if FLYING by. I don't know if it's because I'm not exactly looking forward to my weekend while the husband is away ...or if it is because things have just been super busy around here. Either way helloooooo Thursday. How ya duuurrrin? Let's chat for a second before we go into my thank you's for this week.

Michael will be leaving for Vegas tomorrow morning and while he's off going crazy with the boys I have decide I will have my own mini vacation at our house. He doesn't know this yet but I mean it should pretty much be a given... When the husband is away the wife will use up all the money...isn't that how the saying goes?

My Plans are as follows...but not limited to just these...
  • Come home, put my party pants on, and go do something fun...maybe go see a movie, go to my hometown...who knows.
  • Shopping till I drop it low, low, low, low...that's our bank account I'm talking about here friends.
  • Turn the backyard into a summer wonderland with a slip and slide, crazy water hose attachments, and a kiddy pool.... this actually happened one summer at our old house.
  • Go to dinner by myself at our favorite restaurant to rub it in his face when he comes back.
  • Turning our house into my DIY canvas... Starting with our spare bedroom and those crisp white walls. Mwahahha
Ok let's be honest here...the reality is I'm going to...
  • Sulk around the house Friday night. Probably rent a movie and drink lots of Dr Pepper and blow up all my blogging friends comment feeds. Just a for-warning friends.
  • Go shopping. That's just a given. Sorry I'm not sorry husband. This is deserved
  • If it's half ways sunny, my bathing suit will be on and I will be getting some sun while reading my new book...silently pretending I'm floating around the lazy river at Mandalay Bay...
  • Eat chips, to-go food from my favorite restaurants, and lots of cookies to pass the time.
  • Stir the paint and empty the room but never actually make it to the painting half of that equation. There is just something daunting about bare walls and painters tape. But I will find a new pin to do so I can link back up with my favorite Stephanie over at BEAUtiful Mess.
Such is the life of a married lady huh? Or at least this one....so instead of being sulky toady, I'm going for the positive route. Let's give it a shot....

This last week of February I'm thankful...

For Michael being extra sweet before his trip: Let's be honest...the kid is making it hard for me to be too upset with him about leaving me behind. He stocked up the fridge and pantry, has been throwing around compliments a little more often, and get this...he cleaned the kitchen. Am I being a little over-dramatic about his trip...duh I'm a girl. But I've done some thinking and decided it's about 70% jealousy that he's going to Vegas without me and 30% worry because well...it's Vegas. haha But he deserves to have some fun and a girl can always hope that he wins big so this lady can get the mac she has been wanting...

That our stove is finally fixed: Y'all we have been without an oven for over a month. I have NEVER wanted cookies, lasagna  cinnamon rolls, or breakfast croissants more than I have this month. Thankfully it's back and I put that baby to work last night... YAY for cookies.

For the notes that my sweet friends leave me: I love walking into my classroom and finding notes like this one. There are times when I want to sit and wonder how these kiddos are possibly learning anything from me;  how they can possibly still love me after all of the expectations I have set in front of them, and then I find these notes...and all is right in the world.

That my dad lets me know he's still hanging out with me: I walked into my classroom today and was just trying to get the day started when I just happened to look down. Seriously 3 steps into my classroom there was this beautiful shiny penny. If you don't know the story, google Pennies from Heaven and you will understand a little more why this 1 cent copper piece of metal can mean so much. I had wrote about him yesterday and my heart tells me it was his way of saying "I saw you wrote about me dooter-boot" and that he's there with me.

My beautiful, amazing, first group of sponsors: I can't even begin to explain how much fun I have had getting to promote y'alls blogs this month. I think it says alot that I'm sad to see some of your dates sneaking up so quickly on me. Where did our 30 days go? You are all sweet souls and I'm so thankful to have met you through this amazing little land. Thank you for letting me promote your awesome blogs.

And to top off my thankful Thursday...I have to introduce y'all the the amazing Kaitlyn over at Put a Bow on It. Y'all this girl is not only hilarious but has such a kind heart and fun spirit. Her post about #sorrynotsorry just about made my day yesterday. So without further waiting... here's a small snippet of the amazing Kaitlyn.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! I'm Kaitlyn from put a bow on it. I like bows, a lot. I blog about my everyday life with my new husband and our pupster, Bowden. I spend my days working in the crazy world of outdoor advertising and my nights thinking about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I'm hoping to have lots of fun in my twenty-fifth year of life, so follow along to see what I'm up to!
Fun Facts with a Bow on Top
1. I am addicted to the smell of almond flavoring. Wedding cake cupcakes are my all time favorite.
2. I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher my entire life until, on a whim, I changed my major to advertising my sophomore year of college.
3. Sour patch kids > any type of chocolate

 Love, love love!
Happy Thursday friends...or as I like to say...Happy Friday Eve! Have a great one!

I hate to admit, but I don't love when my hubby travels, as much as I should need alone time. But I agree shopping does help! The weekends always fly anyway!

P went to Key West without me, and I did exactly what you will do. Guy-less weekends are actually the best! :)

the only thing that sucks is you want to be on the fun vaycay, but who says yours won't be just as fun:):)

Isn't "not going to Vegas with you" part of wedding vows? I'm not married, but I most definitely thought it was!

Can't wait to start sponsoring you in a few short days!

Aww..it will go by fast. I have the same weekends when my hubby leaves too. I find shopping helps. I also find that the first night is the worst and then I kind of like my time alone...I don't tell him that though!

Ha ha! I love your reality :)
I totally get the being husband-less moping. It's like, husband goes away and I'm just trying to pass time until he's home again!
Enjoy shopping, DP and relaxing!

So my husband(at the time, he was boyrfriend? I think?) and I used to live 2 hours south of Vegas.
Vegas is our playland. We love it, we miss it, it's awesome.
So that's where the guys used to go on guys nights. So this one trip, they just went up for the afternoon/evening. Well all 5 of them won, not like millions, but I think they all walked away with 1000 each or so. So he comes home suuuuper late, no big deal, I was surprised they didn't stay the night, and the next day, hey...loookie here, 300 for just being me! And from what I heard, all the wives and girlfriends got to share in the winnings haha. I fully supported and encouraged all Vegas trips after that because girlfriends get free money! LOL.
The boys looked at it as a worthwhile investment because by sharing their winnings, the girls were like, what? what Vegas trip? oh you mean the new Coach purse Vegas trip?

I love the stir the paint but not paint, reality. So something I would do. Last year my husband went to a bachelor week getaway in Vegas & I hit up target & DVR & mani/pedi day. aside from that I wasn't ambitious like I hoped either :/

I hope the weekend goes by fast for you!
That part about the penny is so sweet. :)

Yup, going shopping should make you feel better... ;) That's what I would do....and a little time apart from your significant other never really hurts, I think....Plus you can do girl stuff without having to worry about splitting your time between you and your girls\yourself and him....And it does really help when they do extra stuff like clean the kitchen! -Jess L
