I mean who doesn't love going on vacations. Whether it be a short little car ride trip, a plane trip a few states over, or a hop on a cruise boat to go float around the ocean, they are just the best. So the amazing Helene started her link up and I had to join in this week.
My parents loved to travel. We were always going somewhere, experiencing new things, and taking pictures along the way. I will forever be thankful to them for those experiences and look forward to doing the same for my little pumpkins when Michael and I decide to make ourselves parents....way later in life (yes I say that alot but just need to throw it out there again).
Being cliche here, and with all the drama floating around cruises these days, you may think I'm crazy for saying this but one of my favorite "vacations" was our honeymoon trip on a Carnival cruise ship.
We took the 6 days trip to Jamaica, Grand Caymen Island, and Cozumel and seriously had the best time. Michael is a planner and spent almost a month (a long agonizing month for this lady who loves to mark things off the to do list and stressed out about it hanging over our head) reseraching the best rooms, times to go, and ship to be on. I can't complain because I didn't want to do any of that, I just wanted to show up in my maxi dress and new wedding bling and enjoy a week away from wedding anything with my handsome new husband.
There is absolutely no way I can tell you about our whole trip without you falling over in your seat, snoring extra loud, so I'm starting with our first stop...MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA! We were excited to be on land and had heard fun things about Jamaica so we were excited. We decided not to book any tours or excursions but instead just wandered around the island. Best idea ever and I'm not even being sarcastic.

We took a quick bus ride over to one of the main beaches in Montego Bay, rented chairs, snorkel gear (Michael thought this was dumb), and then ordered drinks and enjoyed the day on the beach. We sat behind some performers from the other cruise ship that was docked there which made for an interesting day/view. But we enjoyed our red stripe, the local beer that I am now obsessed with, and just relaxed the day away, played around in the water, and tried to keep the people selling drugs away from our little part of the beach.
After a great burger on the beach and some more red stripe, we decided to do some walking and be total tourists and hit up some of the gift shops. We decided to get a postcard and coffee mug from each stop and even got the typical Jamaica bracelets to wear (which we never did). We ended up over at Margaritaville which was packed with fun, crazy people, an awesome slide from the porch, and lots of live music. A great way to end our Jamaican exploration.
Now trying to get back to the cruise ship was the crazies part. One thing that they warn you about before you get off the cruise ship is to trust no one and don't ever, ever accept "offers". This is an obvious DUH in the fact that Michael is a peace officer and I am a teacher but good info to know because we were asked on multiple occasions. Well our "bus driver" decided we looked like good bait for some "offerings". When we politely declined, he then began hassling us...and when you're in a random place if you can't trust your own bus drive who in the world can you trust?! Thankfully we found a ship worker and they took us to a "safe" bus to head back to the boat on.

I love Jamaica! On our res (er, Sandals), the dealers would try to sell you stuff from the other side of the chain link fence....it was actually pretty funny!
I hope this isn't a dumb question (haven't had coffee yet!) but what kind of "offers" do they make? Merchandise, prostitution, etc.?
Now I have island fever!!
Red Stripe is one of my favorite beers!! I've yet to go to Jamiaica, mostly because I'm terrified of hagglers, but if a girls' trip arises with my soul sista, maybe I'd be down ;) Love you!
Oh my word! I went on this same cruise in high school & we didn't have any "offers"! We must have had some scary looking guys with us! These pictures are making me ready for a vacation NOW
my husband and i went to jamaica on our honeymoon also, but stayed at a sandals resort. like martha, we got 'offers' from locals – mostly for cigs and weed – but it was constant! we weren't brave enough to explore on our own.. our one little trip outside of the resort for some 'shopping' was rough, but maybe it was the area we were in!
oh i have been here!!!! I LOVE jamaica!! so gorgeous and interesting and different!! You are the best for linking up!! (don't forget to add your link on my blog so others can find ya!)
We considered traveling to Jamaica (or another island nearby) for our honeymoon but ended up not. It's still a place I would like to visit one day, though! Can't wait to see and read more about your travels!

These pictures makes me want to go on a vacation so bad! I'm really really hoping we can go on a "honeymoon" for our one year anniversary since we couldn't after our wedding. It'd be nice to be able to get away for a little bit.
GAH! I've never been on a cruise but I have seriously been talking about Jamaica a lottt lately! I want to go so badly!!

Ah I love reading about traveling. I live vicariously through vacation stories!
I went on a cruise to all those places in high school! We had some jamaicans try to make his "offers" too! Grand Caymen was my favorite - I would love to have a beach house there!
I can't wait to hear more! I've never been on a cruise before but the rumor going around is that I'm to set sail on my honeymoon! :)
ahhh Jamaica :) We went to St. Lucia in December for Christmas and loved it. I want to go to Jamaica next!
My best friend went to Jamaica for her honeymoon and said people tried to sell them drugs too! Crazy! At least you were able to have some fun! :)
good thing your new handsome husband could be your bodyguard against all those hagglin' fools :) i literally refer to my bf as my bodyguard sometimes when i am scared and grateful he is there as i'm walking around the city
I don't care what anyone says, I still love cruises!
